What’s Hot: Captain Harold Dobey, Lt. Arthur Fancy and Lt. Anita Van Buren…would be proud. While characters in the television series Starsky & Hutch, NYPD Blue, and Law and Order, respectively, they helped pave the way for police supervisors to step to the head of the Protective Service group. “First-Line Supervisors/Managers of Police and Detectives” ($76,820), “First-Line Supervisors/Managers of Fire Fighting and Prevention Workers” ($70,860) and “Detectives and Criminal Investigators” ($63,840) are the Best Paid of this occupation group.

What’s Not: In contrast, the attention-getting Baywatch apparently did not resonate on the pay scale as “Lifeguards, Ski Patrol, and Other Recreational Protective Service Workers Recreational Protective Service Workers” (averaging $19,930) are the Least Paid in this group, followed by “Crossing Guards” at ($24,290). While the largest in size, “Security Guards” (1,046,760 employees averaging $25,840) seem to protect everyone’s well-being but their own.
