The goal of the Specs Howard faculty is to inspire, educate and motivate future leaders of the communications industry.

Since 1970, over 12,000 people have made a change in their lives by enrolling at the Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts. Today its graduates work all over the world, enjoying rewarding careers in a variety of media and communication industries.

Our broadcasting and communications school prepares students to enter the workforce through a practical, hands-on approach. Over the years, it has adapted its curriculum in response to the tremendous growth in the industries for which we train. One thing that hasn't changed, however, is that hands-on, learn-by-doing, "real world" approach to learning.

If you're interested in pursuing a career in radio, television or film, Specs Howard School provides the real-world education and hands-on training you need to get started. All radio & television program students are trained in broadcast basics for the first 16 weeks of class. After, they are expected to chose a single concentration in either radio or TV/video.

Industrious students may opt to do both by enrolling in the dual concentration program, thereby increasing his or her program by a mere four months in length. A single concentration is 8 months long, while the dual concentration program is 12 months. Advantages to the 12-month program are increased marketability and cost-effectiveness since students obtain twice the skills without doubling the cost of tuition.

This is the real world – or as close as we can make it. The Radio, Video & Film program covers a lot of ground in a relatively short amount of time. Everything you'll learn has a direct purpose. Not only do you study the necessary theory and background information on the topics of radio and television, you get to apply it during hands-on exercises in the lab, starting your very first week!

The ultimate goal of Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts is to prepare students for entry-level employment in the radio and television industries. Students refine skills in radio performance, news and commercial copywriting, applied speech, technical television, audio and video production.

The faculty at Specs Howard School is made up of experienced broadcast professionals and many are still active in the broadcast industry in some way. The faculty's knowledge and experience benefits all students in the radio and television program.

The beauty of it is that all our instructors are full-time employees of the school, which means they’re dedicated to helping you get started with your career!
